Organizing That Doesn't Cost a Thing

Updated: Jul 22, 2023

People often think that getting organized is a costly endeavor.  I'm here to tell you it's not.  You don't have to have a big supply budget or any budget at all.  A good professional organizer should be able to help get you organized using items already in your house.

Here is why...

1) Most people don't have an organization problem they have a too much stuff problem.  The root of all good organization is helping the client pare down.  When you get ride of the excess you can more easily contain and organize what is important.

Same organization products just less stuff!

2) Buying organizational products does not make you organized.  In the Chicago area there is a radio commercial for a closet store that claims that all the radio host needed was a fancy new closet system to get her closet organized.  If that was the case the Professional Organizing business wouldn't exist.  You can have every tool/system out there but unless it's the right tool/system and you are using it correctly and you have edited out what you don't need it's not going to get you organized.

3) You probably already own a good number of bins and baskets and storage containers that can be reused or repurposed.  You don't need to buy everything new so your space will look like a page in a magazine or a staged Instagram photos.  I'm a professional organizer and mine house certainly doesn't.  My pantry is a combo of containers from IKEA, OXO and Target.  They serve a function and fit my budget.
